February 2023 – With the version 9.5.49 release on 1/4/2023, IPM introduced the ability to login to the system using Single Sign-On (SSO). SSO is an authentication method that enables users to securely authenticate with multiple applications and websites using one set of login credentials. IPM offers this capability, but each organization’s IT department is responsible for enabling and configuring SSO by setting an Identity Provider. This configuration process also allows each organization to customize what authentication credentials are accepted. For example, they can designate that a successful authentication into Microsoft applications is trusted, while logins to social media sites are not.

Utilizing SSO helps increase productivity and can help improve your organization’s cybersecurity. With SSO active, users spend less time remembering and entering multiple username and password combinations. For example, in a Windows environment, a user can log into their Office 365 account to view their email or work in Microsoft Office. When that user next visits IPM, they can automatically be logged into the system since the site will recognize the previously entered credentials.

Furthermore, SSO helps improve your organization’s cybersecurity by providing additional attack surface reduction. Essentially, utilizing SSO decreases the number of entry points that an attacker could exploit to gain access to sensitive data. Doing so reduces the chances of a user reusing the same login credentials across multiple sites or applications, which is a common security vulnerability.

IPM’s SSO can be one small part of a security plan or simply a way to let users get to their work as soon as possible, and it’s available now.
